About the Creator
Hi, I’m Karen Hockley, CMKBD, CAPS, a kitchen and bath designer with over 30 years of hands-on experience specializing in cabinetry design, specification, and education. Throughout my career, I’ve worked in interior design, kitchen and bath design, retail, manufacturing, and independent design, and I’ve trained designers at every stage — from those new to the industry to seasoned professionals looking to deepen their technical knowledge. Cabinetry is one of the most complex and misunderstood aspects of kitchen design, and getting it right affects everything: layout, function, pricing, margins, and client trust. This course was created to teach the real ins and outs of cabinetry — not just what to sell, but why, how, and when to make the right decisions. I break down construction, door styles, finishes, & manufacturer differences, so you can design with confidence and protect both your clients and your bottom line. My goal is simple: to help designers understand cabinetry at a professional level, so they can design better kitchens, communicate clearly, and build profitable, sustainable careers.
